Six electric vehicle charging stations will be unveiled on the campus of University of South Florida St. Petersburg campus during an event promoting sustainability and alternative energy on Thursday, January 24 from 3:00 to 5:30 pm. Invitation to USFSP Gets Electrified

Duke Energy’s Park & Plug Program started in 2018 and will extend to December 2022 with the goal of building a foundation of EV charging infrastructure in Florida communities. The program has been approved to invest up to $8 million (plus associated operating costs) to own, operate and manage the network.

Duke Energy will provide the equipment, installation, warranty and network connection services free of charge through 2022 of the pilot program, and site hosts will be responsible for the cost of electricity used by the charging station. Site hosts can choose to provide the service as a free amenity or charge a fee to the vehicle driver for the electricity usage.

Target quantities for the program include 325 Multi-unit Dwelling Level 2 Chargers, 100 Workplace Level 2 Chargers, 75 Public Level 2 Chargers, and 30 DC Fast Chargers.
